Nourishing Hydration: Your Guide to Hydrating for Travel

As a holistic nutritionist, I understand the importance of quality hydration for overall well-being. Water is the elixir of life, and when you're traveling, it's essential to make informed choices about the water you consume. In this blog post, I'll share some of my top picks for drinking healthy water on the go and provide insights into selecting the best options in airports. Plus, I'll introduce you to a unique way to enhance your hydration while traveling. Let's dive in!

Hydrating Before Travel:

It is vital to hydrate before flying to reduce jet lag and lethargy. I love to drink extra water with lemon plus salt 24 hours prior to Flying. Make sure to drink at least 3L the day before you takeoff.

Mountain Valley Mineral Water

When it comes to choosing bottled water, consider options like mineral water from reputable brands like Mountain Valley. These naturally sourced waters often contain essential minerals that can contribute to your overall health and well-being. Minerals, such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium are essential for cellular hydration!

Hallstein Artesian Water

While it may come at a premium price, Hallstein Water is renowned for its exceptional quality. This water undergoes rigorous testing and filtration processes to ensure purity, making it a top choice for those who prioritize the highest standards of hydration.

aquatru water filter

For a more sustainable and budget-friendly option, consider using the Aquatru water filter. This device filters impurities and allows you to add trace minerals back into your water. This can be a great way to ensure you're getting the essential minerals your body needs, even when you're away from home. Tip: Add Quinton mineral sea salt to Aquatru Water Filter to add back minerals.

Structured Water

Structured water is the new rage right now with good reason, because it works! Research shows that water has 4 phases – liquid, vapor, ice, and an Exclusionary Zone Water, aka EZ water. It is a gel-like substance that allows for easier cellular hydration. You can structure your water by:

  • Eat organic fruit & vegetables with a high water content

  • Put water out in Sunlight to soak up UV + Infrared Light

  • Add gemstones that resonate with water (Clear & Rose Quartz, Amethyst)

  • Add minerals and herbs to water

  • Drink from Copper Vessels to structure water and also remove impurities. I LOVE VeslaCopper bottles. Use this link to purchase.

Hydrate during travel:

Bring your own salt

A great tip that I have done for the past 15 years is I bring my own Celtic, Himalayan, or Baja Gold Mineral Sea Salt from home while traveling to add to my water on the plane for added insurance on my cellular hydration. We all know that flying can cause big dehydration, along with stress, and jet lag. This is a game changer…. I am never without my salt! Flying always used to make me tired until I tried this remedy. I also will sometimes add a little bit of Manuka honey to my salt water on flights for added hydration.

I also pack Quinton sea salt viles on my flight, taking at least 1 every 2 hours.

Use Hydrogen Tablets

To take your hydration to the next level while traveling, consider bringing along hydrogen tablets. These tablets release hydrogen gas into your water, which can help structure the water molecules and potentially offer a variety of health benefits. Some people report increased energy levels and improved recovery after physical activity.

Airport Water Choices:

When you're at the airport, you'll likely find popular brands like FIJI, Evian, Deer Park, and Smart Water. So, which one should you pick? Here's my take:

FiJI:

Personally, I recommend FIJI water while traveling. It's sourced from a natural underground aquifer and is known for its crisp, clean taste. Plus, FIJI bottles are made from harder plastics, which is a better than thinner/cheaper options that can leech easier into the water causing disease and unhealthy estrogen dominance. Still not loving the plastic, but it would be one of the better choices.

Evian:

Evian is another reputable choice. It comes from a natural spring in the French Alps and is known for its high mineral content. If you prefer a water with a slightly mineral taste, Evian is a great option.

Smart Water:

This option is relatively good but does not have the same mineral-rich profile as some other choices. If this is the only option available, it’s a decent choice.

What’s better, the plastic water bottles, cans or paper-made boxes that are now becoming popular? Glass always first, then box water, cans, and finally the hardest plastic bottle for the lesser of the evil.

Staying hydrated is crucial for your health, especially when you're traveling. By choosing quality water sources like mineral or spring water, considering premium options like Hallstein Water, and using Aquatru water filters, you can make more informed choices about the water you consume. When you find yourself in an airport, opt for brands like FIJI or Evian for a healthier water source. Don't forget to consider the environmental impact and choose bottles with hard plastic or even cans. Finally, for an extra boost in hydration, try hydrogen tablets to structure your water and potentially enhance your energy levels while on the go. Safe travels, my friends and stay seriously hydrated!

PS. I always try to walk barefoot for 10 minutes on grass or on the beach, if possible after a flight to ground and replenish my body. And, I always get direct sunlight in my eyes are a few minutes to help reset circadian rhythm.
